Print Bleed Guide
Remove the template layer before uploading your artwork.
Bleed Area
Make sure to extend the background images or colors all the way to the edge of the black outline.
Trim
This is the actual cut of the final design.
Safe Area
Do not place important text or images beyond the green border area to prevent trimming.
Spot Foil Layer Creation
Create a separate layer labeled "Spot Foil" and use 100% black (C0, M0, Y0, K100) to mark foil application areas.
Surface Consideration
Ensure foil areas are flat and avoid applying foil over textured designs for optimal adhesion and visibility.
File Saving
Save the design as a PDF that includes both the base design and Spot Foil layer, with a 1/8 inch (3mm) bleed and trim marks.
- Apply spot foil sparingly and strategically to amplify key design elements without overwhelming the overall look.
- Use high-resolution images and vector graphics for the best results.
- Avoid overcrowding the design; let the spot foil accentuate essential elements to maintain a sleek and professional appearance.
- Scodix embellishments should not extend to the trim line, a score line, a fold line, or a dieline. Allow at least 4 points between the Scodix and these elements.
- Sending Spot Foil print files can be tricky, check out our embellishments page for more information.
Pro Print is your source for custom print products. Everything we print is created by our customers. No pre-designed templates here, but we do offer layout guides to eliminate guesswork on your part.
Our dynamic template generator provides you with a blank template that includes size, bleed, caution zone and fold lines (where applicable). To access your free template, select your options, press “Get Templates,” then download or email the template format you prefer.
Experiment with various specifications by adjusting options and generating new templates — the changes will be reflected in the new template.
Once you have selected all your options, retrieve the file, import it as a layer into your design program, and start creating. For existing designs, copy your design and make adjustments over the template.
Pro Tip: Delete the template layer before saving your press-ready file. If you leave the template in the artwork, it will print on your order!
